FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF GROWTHCAP

Charlotte is the founder and managing director of GROWTHCAP Impact Advisory. The key aim of the company is creating a positive impact for our planet and people, by offering strategic and management advice and responsible investment to connect climate finance with green solutions for change makers, impact investors and entrepreneurs.

 

Charlotte has contributed to responsible economic and social development globally  for more than 28 years, working in the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Sarasin & Partners and the United  Nations.


Most recently Charlotte worked at the UN agency International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD in Rome as the Associate Vice President, for External Relations and Governance in charge of global external relations with 172 countries.

Before starting GROWTHCAP in 2011, Charlotte was Director of the Entrepreneurship Programme at the EBRD, TurnAround Management/Business Advisory Services (TAM/BAS), leading this entrepreneurship programme for micro, small and medium sized enterprises in the private sector.

Charlotte rejuvenated all aspects of this essentially donor-funded programme with more than 12,000 individual projects with entrepreneurs. Charlotte was also the founder of the EBRD women in business programme. Mobilising € 250 million for field programmes, expanding operations from 5 local offices to 30 and completing more than 12,000 individual projects with entrepreneurs. Participating businesses attracted some € 1.4 billion of investment.

Charlotte now has a strong focus on corporate and social responsibility and on empowering entrepreneurs through direct women-in-business programmes and environmental programmes in Africa, so far covering Botswana, Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria and Zambia.

 

Currently advising private corporations on impact investing with a focus on social and environmental positive impact and partnerships, such as the Milano Innovation District MIND – the new “Silicon Valley of Milano” – a futuristic innovation park regeneration of the expo 2015.


As well as developing entrepreneurship, fundraising, growing businesses to create jobs, and developing community, partnerships and ESG projects through GROWTHCAP. Charlotte currently holds board positions with Give a Future and Neuroinvent and has held board positions with Swedfund, Kinnevik Reach for Change, and, Hugo Stenbeck’s Stiftelse.
 

Charlotte holds a BA in International Relations, EC Law and Economics from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles and an MSc in Political Economy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She speaks English, French, Italian and Swedish and has some German and Russian.
